Twitch.TV Gets Big Investment Bucks Ahead of Console Launches

on Monday, Sep. 30th

San Francisco based Twitch.TV announced a $20 million investment today, just weeks before the launch of the platform on the latest vide game consoles.

Lizette Chapman of the Wall St. Journal reports:

The company says some gamers are earning six-figure salaries by gaming full time on the Twitch platform, and it expects the number of gamers to grow when Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’sPlayStation 4 consoles launch this fall and gamers can broadcast and view Twitch content with a single button.

Twitch is a spin off the life-casting service Justin.tv, which had a lot of buzz a few years back. Currently Twitch numbers its active viewers at 45 million a month.
