If keeping up with the latest Bitcoin related shenanigans brightens your days as much as it does mine, then you may want to read this post in science fiction writer Bruce Sterling's Wired blog.

The Secret Service has gone after an outfit called Liberty Reserve in what they're calling the "Largest International Money Laundering Prosecution in History".

The takeaway here would be, “Cyber criminals should be reminded today that they are unable to hide behind the anonymity of the Internet to avoid regulated financial systems.” Of course, “avoiding regulated financial systems” is the entire point of inventing and possessing an entirely alternative and unregulated financial system such as Bitcoin.

Sterling has the full press release, annotated with his own take. Worth a look.
