YourAnonNews Raises $54k+on IndieGoGo

on Wednesday, Apr. 17th

The social media news collective known as YourAnonNews, who have gathered a following on Twitter and Tumblr by flying the Anonymous flag, have raised over $54,000 on crowdfunding site IndieGoGo.

While there is no central authority to Anon, that hasn’t stopped the YourAnonNews “brand” (for lack of a better term) from collecting just shy of a million followers on Twitter. By comparison the Los Angeles Times has under half-a-million followers on the microblogging site.

The goal of the crowdfunding campaign was to raise $2000 towards the costs of dedicated servers to host a website and begin building an infrastructure for citizen journalism under the YourAnon banner. At present the entity exists merely in the realm of social media, but that hasn’t stopped it from becoming a counterweight to mainstream media sources, if not a trusted source in and of itself.
