The Lizzie Bennet Diaries Kickstarter [UPDATED]

on Friday, Mar. 22nd

Update as Spoiler Alert: The campaign goal was met in under 4 hours.

We’ve told you about The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, the YouTube powered modern adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, before. Now that transmedia project is crossing over into another world we watch closely: crowdfunding.

The Kickstarter campaign will produce a boxed set of the series on DVD, and the producers hope to raise enough to fund the next series from the creative team. Beyond that, the campaign aims to pay royalties to the writers and actors of the series.

As series co-creator Hank Green says in the pitch video:

“The way that the Internet works right now is that you have to get millions and millions and millions of views to get enough money just to pay one person, like, a living wage at all.”

We’ve seen YouTube stars like FreddieW get funding above and beyond their goals before, will TheLBD fandom come through?
