Calling All Citizens of Leftover Nation: Come to Forage City

An app built by a team of Oakland youth in partnership with professional developers to circulate surplus food throughout communities is now in beta and inviting testers.

Youth Radio’s Mobile App Lab has spent months developing Forage City, which it soft launched at the civic web hackathon Code For Oakland last weekend in partnership with other community organizations and Oakland residents like food activist Asiya Wadud. (Youth Radio is Turnstyle’s parent company). From the Forage City site:

The app is in beta, and we want to keep making it better by inviting users to test the app and give the production team crucial feedback as we prepare for the formal launch.
