Instagramming Ramadan With a Daily Prayer Diary

Nishat Kurwa on Friday, Aug. 10th

Meet Deena.

These are her feet.

This is her masalah, or prayer rug.

This is her voice.

Those are the only physical qualities you become acquainted with in the 30Mosques.com video introducing the woman who’s started a spare, simple Instagram-filled Tumblr page to document her experience during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Each day, Deena photographs the prayer mats or surfaces where she prays, sometimes including her feet in the frame. She’s unemployed at the moment, she says at the beginning of a video describing the project, and she was looking for a way to document some aspect of her daily routine. “Well, what do I do every day?,” she asked herself. “Well, I pray. Alhumdillah, I can say that.”

Her posts use the hashtag #thisiswhereipray.

Sifteo Cubes: Blurring the Edges of Play

I first encountered Sifteo Cubes back at IndieCade last October, and spent some time playing around with the little blocks which I first mistook for iPod Nanos.
