Nintendo Finally Taking Internet Seriously?
Noah J Nelson on Thursday, Jun. 28th
Microsoft isn’t the only video game console manufacturer looking to snap up biz talent with Hollywood ties these days.
Nintendo has closed the deal on bringing former Disney Interactive Media Group senior VP Duncan Orrell-Jones on board. Orrell-Jones will have the newly created position of SVP of Network Business. Disney Interactive is the Mouse House’s games division, and while Microsoft’s rumored moves to bring on a former CBS exec is all about expanding the XBox’s identity as a media platform, this move is– if the title is to be believed– about shoring up their Redmond, Washington neighbor’s presence online.
The Big N is infamous for “not getting” the online space, something they seem to be serious about getting over with the Wii U.
You might just see names of executives getting flung around. Me? I see pieces on the chess board being moved into position for an epic brawl for the living room in the next 18 months.
