Will the Dutch Lead the Way to Mars?

The Dutch… or specifically a Dutch company… is planning to create the first Mars colony by 2023. As the mission is planned astronauts will go in the first wave and two more will join every two years after that. The catch: it’s a one way trip.

The company, Mars One, is looking to finance the trip by turning it into a media event. A bit of a chicken and egg paradox, but hey, it worked for that crossing of Niagara Falls on a tight rope. Why not a mission to Mars. Plus the Dutch are famous for their skill at explorers and paving the way for commerce between distant lands.
