Waze Traffic App Gets Gas Savvy

Noah J Nelson on Thursday, Jun. 21st

With turn-by-turn navigation becoming a part of the core of mobile operating systems, navigation and traffic apps have to get savvier to stay ahead of the “default” options. Waze, the app we talked about back during LA’s “Carmageddon” already uses user-generated information to keep ahead of the traffic conditions.

Now the makers of Waze are adding gas price information– both user and gas station submitted- to the app which will allow drivers to sort prices and hunt down the best deals. This isn’t the only gas price app out there, but Waze has been growing it’s community steadily over the past year in the States, and that bodes well for this feature’s future.

I first encountered Sifteo Cubes back at IndieCade last October, and spent some time playing around with the little blocks which I first mistook for iPod Nanos.
