Disney’s Delightful Diversion: Wreck-It Ralph Gets A (Free) Game

Noah J Nelson on Tuesday, Jun. 12th

Disney has released a flash game as part of their promotion for the upcoming CGI animated film– not a Pixar film, but a Disney one mind you– called Wreck-It Ralph. It is a faux 8-Bit joy.

Maybe I missed this on the floor of E3 last week. There certainly was a fake arcade cabinet for Fix-It Felix in the Disney booth, with a sign on it saying that they were looking for the boards so they could refurbish it. Genius here didn’t snap a photo.

The movie looks to be a lot of fun, with cameos from classic game characters. A Toy Story for the video game set if you will. The playable Fix-It Felix Jr., in the meantime, plays like a hybrid of Donkey Kong, Popeye, and Crazy Climbers. A mash-up that hits me right in the nostalgia sweet spot.

Sifteo Cubes: Blurring the Edges of Play

I first encountered Sifteo Cubes back at IndieCade last October, and spent some time playing around with the little blocks which I first mistook for iPod Nanos.
