“A Virtual Hangout For Shut-Ins” – O Music Awards

The San Francisco-based company Shaker is just making its way stateside from Israel with the launch of Club 53 this past Friday. Shaker brings real-world interactions to the comfort of your dirty apartment by creating places and events on the social graph where people can hang out, meet new people, and experience events together.

From the music, to how people use gestures and move their bodies, Shaker aims to be the closest thing to going to the club as possible. When you enter Club 53, your Facebook profile takes the form of a black and white avatar called a shaker. You can virtually dance next to other users you Shaker think you may like to get to know. You can even buy each other drinks, chat in groups or privately with other people, dance, listen to music, and move around just as you would in a real music venue. And with Club 53 already integrated with Facebook, take the party straight to the new Airtime.

BandPage is assisting with the music, allowing musicians a way to easily host events and share content within Club 53.

Doors open at 8pm PST. No, really.

Sifteo Cubes: Blurring the Edges of Play

I first encountered Sifteo Cubes back at IndieCade last October, and spent some time playing around with the little blocks which I first mistook for iPod Nanos.
