Best of Turnstyle: Panos Cosmatos

Noah J Nelson on Friday, Dec. 30th

Turnstyle is opening up our archives from 2011 to share some of our favorite — all but uncut — interviews of the year!

This time out I’m sharing my conversation from AFI Fest with Panos Cosmatos, the director of the sublimely sinster Beyond The Black Rainbow. As I wrote in my review of the film, Beyond The Black Rainbow is the kind of movie you always imagined was going to show up on late night TV.

If you like genre films, experimental cinema and aberrant psychology, this conversation is for you.

Keep an eye out for Panos’ Beyond The Black Rainbow on the art house circuit this coming year. It’s a must on the big screen.

Check out the original, print version of this interview, and our review of Beyond The Black Rainbow.

Sifteo Cubes: Blurring the Edges of Play

I first encountered Sifteo Cubes back at IndieCade last October, and spent some time playing around with the little blocks which I first mistook for iPod Nanos.

THE WEEKENDER: PRESENT SHOCK

I’m going to go out on a limb here and promise you that this will be the first of two posts on Present Shock, the Douglas Rushkoff book that has been getting a mountain of attention in the tech press since it was released earlier this month.
