Southwest Pilot’s Comments Get Him Suspended

A Southwest Airlines pilot was suspended without pay after his cockpit microphone got stuck, exposing his hatred towards gay flight attendants.

Southwest has not released the name of the pilot and has not said how long the suspension will last. The airline, however, released a statement to a Houston news station, saying they take incidents like this very seriously.

“We are committed and dedicated to maintaining the highest standard of ethics in the industry; in fact we’ve built our Company’s reputation on the Golden Rule: treating others as you would like to be treated. The actions of this Pilot are, without question, inconsistent with the professional behavior and overall respect that we require from our Employees. The Pilot in question has been addressed by Leadership and was suspended without pay. “

Southwest offers pilots several diversity education courses, but obviously, those courses didn’t help the pilot in question at all. Hopefully he learns from this incident.
