Marriage Can Wait, According To Census Data

Robyn Gee on Tuesday, May. 24th

Recent census data from 2009 shows that people are getting married later in life. Nathan Yau from Flowing Data created the infographic below to show how the marriage rates have changed over the past 20 years.

Key pieces of information for reading the graph:
- The yellow and brown bars in the rows categorized by ethnicity correlate to the yellow and brown years above. Yellow: 1986, Brown: 2009
- The line graph shows the percentage of people who were married during 1986, 1996, 2001, 2004, and 2009 (not gender specific).
- The 2009 data was just released based on a survey that was done of 39,000 households.

I first encountered Sifteo Cubes back at IndieCade last October, and spent some time playing around with the little blocks which I first mistook for iPod Nanos.
